my name is don burress and i am the owner/operator of web-earners.com. i have been running the site since its inception on december 10th, 2000. you are visiting this page because i am looking for someone to take over the site. this page provides much of the information relevant to the site. however, you may have a specific question that is not addressed here. if so, please feel free to email [redacted] and i will answer any question regarding the sale of the site. now for the information you are looking for.

the reason

the first question that comes to mind is why am i selling the site if it is profitable? it suffices to say that i have recently decided that running a business is not the career for me. i am currently on my way to changing careers. if you're curious, i am entering a program to earn my master's in teaching and a secondary teaching credential. it is this reason i need to sell the site. if the site is not sold by the end of summer, the scripts will be auctioned off to the highest bidder and the site will close. i would prefer this did not happen, as the site is successful, if somewhat small.

the numbers

currently, web-earners.com has over 14,000 users. 20,000 including accounts deactivated for various reasons. we add about 500 new users to our communtiy each week with no promotion by the owner except for minimal search engine listing. there are 900+ advertiser accounts with more than 1300 available ads. web-earners.com currently averages 50,000 hits a day from about 4300 visitors. the site is currently bringing in about $1700 a month, with approximately $700 a month profit.

site features

web-earners.com is relatively easy to run and maintain. on normal days, i spend about one to two hours on work related to the site. most of this time is dedicated to answering emails. other daily tasks include checking for cheaters, answering message board posts, approving new links, and crediting users for sign ups. if all of this seems too much to learn, i will be providing any necessary support for an agreed upon period. i am working on making the administration features more user-friendly. these features include advertiser account maintenance scripts, user account maintenance script, a newsletter mailing script, various statistical scripts, banner and offer maintenance scripts, database dumping scripts, a nightly-run maintenance script and other features. all scripts have just been upgraded to have better commenting and organization. all scripts are PERL scripts designed to run on the super-stable UNIX platform. adding new features should not be too difficult for the right person.

the bottom line

web-earners.com is successful and profitable because it is manageable, open, and honest. when considering offers, i would probably favor an offer that would pledge to continue the traditions i have started. an owner with an existing site just looking to increase their membership would probably not be interested in web-earners.com. the perfect owner would be a person with a lot of ideas for the site and a dedication to working on them. with some promotion and new features, the site could easily bring in much more than $1000 a month profit.
